About the event
"The Man from the Manufactory" is a tale delving into the turbulent events in the history of the multicultural metropolis of Łódź. The first act portrays episodes from the life of the 19th-century industrialist Izrael Poznański, known as the Cotton King, and reaches into a significant event, the general strike of workers against factory owners in 1892 (known as the Łódź insurrection). The action of the second act takes place about 100 years later, at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. It depicts the actions of the post-war director of the "Poltex" Cotton Industry Works after the fall of the Polish People's Republic, the process related to the closure of the factory, and the vision of the future of this place, now known in Europe as the Łódź Manufaktura. However, the historical-political-economic background serves as a pretext for a story about the fate of Łódź inhabitants and the metaphysical experiences of man in the face of death, the timeless struggle of good against evil. In the revitalized post-industrial space, the premiere of the outdoor version of the spectacle "The Man from the Manufactory" took place on the Market of Łódź Cotton Weavers in Manufaktura (May 18, 2019).
